The promenade Explanada de España, lined with palm trees, is one of the most impressive thoroughfares in the country. The historic port of Alicante and the Castle of Santa Bárbara, sitting atop Mount Benacantil high above the city, are steeped in character and history, while there are many beautiful parks and several museums. Just a mile or two off the coast lies the old pirate hideout of Tabarca island, now a beautiful tourist attraction.

The historic city of Elche is only a 20 minute drive away, and to the north lies the popular seaside resort of Benidorm and beyond that one of Spain’s great cities, Valencia.
